How do I Understand and Submit the Correct Tax Form?

Navigating tax requirements can be challenging, especially when working with international platforms like OneForma. For us to ensure compliance and smoothly process your payments, it’s important that you submit the right tax form. Here’s how to find out which form that is.

For US Citizens: Submit a W9 Form

If you’re a US citizen, regardless of where you live, you’re required to submit the W9 form. The United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) uses W9 forms to gather information about domestic contractors and freelancers.

How to Fill out the W9 Form: You’ll need to provide your name, address, and Social Security number (SSN).

Where to find the W9 form: Click here.

Submission Process: Once completed, upload the filled-out W9 to your OneForma account in the designated tax information section.

For Non-US Citizens: Submit a W8 BEN Form

Non-US citizens need to submit the W8 BEN form. This is the form the IRS uses to collect information and taxes from people living outside of the country, pursuant to any relevant tax treaties between your country and the United States.

How to Fill out the W8 BEN Form: You’ll need to provide personal information, including your name, country of citizenship, and foreign tax identification number.

Where to Find the W8 BEN Form: Click here.

Submission Process: Once completed, upload the filled-out W8 BEN to your OneForma account in the designated tax information section.
